Snap Disc Thermostats Control Generator

Snap Disc Thermostat Senses Generator Surface TemperatureBi-Metal snap disc thermostats are a simple temperature control solution for many appliances, such as portable generators. Senasys generator thermostats are a single function control, which can operate as a fan or limit up to 350°F. Generators may require two snap disc thermostats for both fan and limit control. When the generator’s surface temperature rises, the bi-metal disc inside the thermostat switch reacts opening or closing the circuit, powering on a generator’s fan or shutting down the equipment completely.

Our automatic reset thermostat switches will open or close a circuit when temperature rises within a system. Typically used to turn a fan on when a high temperature is reached within the equipment. As the bi-metal reacts to the increase of temperature, the contacts close powering the fan to cool the system. As the temperature cools, the bi-metal again reacts opening the circuit shutting the fan down. As generators are in use, temperature within the system will rise requiring a fan to turn on to cool the appliance down.

Limit Controlled Snap Disc Thermostat

Many generators use a limit snap disc thermostat as a fail-safe after the fan controller. If the generator fan was to not turn on and temperature continued to increase, the limit controlled snap disc thermostat is set at a higher temperature. Once the bi-metal senses this temperature increase, the thermostat switch opens the contacts shutting the equipment down.

The limit switch could function as an automatic or manual reset. The automatic reset limit switch would shut down your equipment until the temperature falls and closes the circuit to resume back to normal operation. The manual reset limit switch will maintain the equipment in shut down mode until an operator intervenes to check the equipment and manually reset the snap disc thermostat.
