Each piece of equipment has a control, whether it be a mechanical capillary thermostat, snap disc thermostat or electronic temperature controller. The control will function to turn a heating element on or off when the desired temperature is reached. Beyond that control, a temperature limit switch is required in each unit where if the heating element temperature exceeds a set point, the contacts will open shutting the equipment down preventing harm. Because it’s a manual reset, the switch requires a human to check the system and trip the switch back to normal.
