430 Pipe Mount Thermostat Switch

430 Pipe Mount Thermostat Switch

Senasys offers a variety of pipe mount thermostat switches. Available in our auto reset, manual reset and epoxy sealed series, the pipe mount thermostats have become a popular item for many of our customers. Typically when mounting the switch to the outer diameter of the pipe, the switch is sensing a fluid temperature or air temperature as it passes through. The snap disc reacts quickly to the change and opens or closes the circuit. We offer a variety of materials to fit application requirements including aluminum and brass. Give us a call for for more information or visit our online store to purchase.

Thermostat matches the actual O.D., not the nominal dimension

For our pipe mount thermostats if you are using an industry standard tube you need to get the thermostat that matches the actual OD not the nominal dimension listed when they sell the pipe.  So, if you have an standard ‘1/2″ pipe’, per the chart below you will need a 5/8″ pipe mount thermostat as the nominal 1/2″ pipe have an actual OD of 5/8″ and our units are sold by that actual dimension.

Here’s a quick reference guide:

3/8 1/2, 1/4, 3/8, 5/8 0.5, 0.25, 0.625, 0.825
1/2 5/8 0.63
5/8 3/4 0.75
3/4 7/8 0.88
1 1 1/8 1.13
1 1/4 1 3/8 1.38
1 1/2 1 5/8 1.63
2 2 1/8 2.13
2 1/2 2 5/8 2.63
3 3 1/8 3.13
3 1/2 3 5/8 3.63
4 4 1/8 4.13
5 5 1/8 5.13
6 6 1/8 6.13

In addition, there are a few rules of thumb to keep in mind when we are talking abut how to make sure that the pipe mount is properly secured, and has the ability to make the best contact with the switch and the pipe.

  • Use thermal paste for heat transfer
  • Use the OD of the pipe or tube to size correctly
  • Make sure there is NO air gap between the switch and the pipe
  • If you need to shim, always shim between the pipe and the clip do NOT shim between the switch and the pipe
