Bi-metal discs can come in all shapes and sizes. Depending on your specifications and quantity, Senasys can build custom bi-metal snap discs to fit inside a thermostat switch. Our standard snap disc thermostat switches use a 1/2″ or 3/4″ disc. Give us a call for for more information or visit our online store to purchase.
Bi-Metal Snap Disc Diameters Explained
Commonly if an application requires a faster response time to a temperature change or needs to be heavy duty (25A@120VAC / 30A@12VDC) we recommend our 3/4″ disc. The larger disc covers a larger area making the temperature response time more rapid.
Our 1/2″ bi-metal disc option is a great solution where a smaller footprint is needed.
Lastly, we do get the occasional request for 1/4″ bi-metal snap disc and if we have the capabilities to do it. To answer that question, yes we are capable, but what are your requirements? Senasys does have inserts and tools that allow us to create ¼” discs with a thickness of .004”. So, to answer that questions yes we are capable, but what are you requirements? If you can provide Senasys the below information, we can quote properly:
- What temperature does the disc need to snap?
- What is your temperature tolerance and differential?
- How much movement / space is there in the application?
- What is your estimated annual usage?
Another interesting note we’d like to take this time to mention is Senasys will supply the bi-metal snap disc only. Send us the above details to get the ball rolling.
