A common application use for Senasys snap disc thermostats is freeze protection. We received a new application from a car wash company, who needed a way to insure their equipment doesn’t freeze. They needed to make sure the temperature is high enough in the bill boxes and automated cashier to help with moisture removal and keep the touch-pad circuits warm. They also have to make sure that the CCTV camera housings aren’t freezing and the cameras are fog free. Through the use of our epoxy sealed snap disc thermal switch, they were able to make sure that their retail equipment keeps operating properly by providing freeze protection. The snap disc thermostats opens at 75°F and Closes at 60°F – part number 431-301A00-636. The snap disc thermostat will turn on a heater which helps with the moisture, fog and freeze protection that was noted above.

Our temperature switches work by using a bimetal disc. The bimetal disc in the switch reacts to heat, and opens or closes a set of contacts based on what the ambient temperature is. This is works because the different metals in the disc react to heat in different ways, which causes the disc to bend.
